Willock had a difficult season in 2023–2024; due to injuries, he was only able to play in 14 of 51 games. In an effort to make up for lost time in black and white, it is hoped that he will recover in time for the preseason.

Additionally, if Italian stories are to be believed, a player who was his colleague at Arsenal may soon join him.

Newcastle United and Aston Villa are the two Premier League teams interested in signing Matteo Guendouzi from Lazio, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

According to them, Aston Villa has already made the Frenchman a bid of £21 million, and the Magpies are now expressing interest in him as well.

Although Lazio wants to keep him on staff, Gazzetta dello Sport notes that an offer of about £25 million might be sufficient to persuade them to sell.

Guendouzi has previously been linked to Newcastle, although they do not currently require him.
Arsene Wenger described Guendouzi as a player with “big potential” while he was at Arsenal, where he played alongside Willock. The Magpies find this to be an unusual target.

Rumors about the 25-year-old relocating to Tyneside, nevertheless, are not brand-new. Nearly a year ago, he was connected to a move to Newcastle United, and immediately after the Magpies took control in 2021, his name surfaced as a potential target.

Guendouzi’s connection to Newcastle seemed odd on both of those occasions, and it will seem even more odd in 2024.

Eddie Howe will have seven center midfielders to pick from at Newcastle come season, so he doesn’t need another one.

That will only alter if someone departs, which is conceivable. While there have been rumours of Sean Longstaff joining Leicester City, Bruno Guimaraes’ £100 million release clause is the main source of concern.

Maybe the rumors that Guendouzi is headed to Newcastle will make more sense if either of those players depart. But until then, they are completely nonsensical.
PSR is putting pressure on Newcastle United to sell this month, and one of the candidates who is expected to go is genuinely willing to go.

It seems that the Magpies will have to offload someone before June 30th, when Premier League clubs are required to turn in their most recent set of financial statements to demonstrate that they are adhering to the regulations on profit and sustainability.

While Newcastle’s financial problems might be resolved if they cashed in on Bruno Guimaraes, the club would suffer even more as a result. Although his £100 million release clause has raised concerns, his departure from St James’ Park this month would be catastrophic.

Newcastle ought to try to transfer someone else on instead. Although it’s been said that Miguel Almiron would prefer to stay in the Northeast, he seems like a strong contender.

Nevertheless, one of Almiron’s Toon comrades had a different tale to tell.
