Michigan football’s biggest recruiting weekend

A big month of recruiting (June) technically kicks off on Friday as the Michigan football program is hosting five recruits for official visits this weekend.

It’s a star-studded first weekend for the Wolverines, who are hosting a couple of elite recruits from powerhouse Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas. Five-star wideout Derek Meadows, who is ranked No. 32 overall according to the 247 Sports rankings, will be among those visiting. He just included the Wolverines in his top five.

The leader in the crystal ball is Notre Dame. He will also make trips to LSU, Georgia, Alabama, and Notre Dame in June. Although Michigan football still needs improvement, a fantastic official visit in Ann Arbor would be a good place to start.

The other Bishop Gorman talent anticipated on campus is Douglas Utu. In the 2025 class, the 6-foot-5, 300-pound offensive line target is ranked 67th overall. The On3 prediction machine has Michigan football ranked among the top six and as the leader; however, no expert or crystal ball predictions have been made as of yet.

Kainoa Winston is a top-100 recruit who will visit this weekend. Michigan football made his top four this week along with Penn State, North Carolina, and Oregon. The Wolverines are in a strong spot even though the On3 prediction machine favors Penn State slightly right now.

Marco Jones is a four-star EDGE from Danville, California. He’s ranked No. 156 overall and while Texas and Texas A&M are strongly in the mix, Michigan football feels like it could grab the lead this weekend. The Wolverines are also hosting DJ Sanders, a 6-foot-4, 290-pound defensive tackle this weekend too. He’s from Texas and will visit Texas and A&M.

Leaving the Lone Star State won’t be an easy task. Even yet, there’s still a sense of relative openness for each of these five recruits. It is imperative that Michigan seizes the opportunity to establish a positive first impression.
