Boston — Kristaps Porzingis, center for the Boston Celtics, first took a look at his history before he could look forward to the NBA Finals.

Not just Kyrie Irving is taking against his old team on the big stage. After playing for the Dallas Mavericks for two and a half seasons from 2019 to 2022, Porzingis is following suit.

This week, there were rumors circulating that Porzingis didn’t have a great time with the Mavericks and had a falling out with both the team and star player Luka Doncic before to being sent to the Washington Wizards.

During the NBA Finals media day at TD Garden on Wednesday, Porzingis acknowledged that his time with the Mavericks didn’t go as expected but he didn’t lend any weight to those claims.

Not every part of it was bad. There were several enjoyable times we shared. We had a few good moments, according to Porzingis. Overall, I don’t think it was beneficial to both parties. It wasn’t faultless. However, as I would say, everything—coworkers, the locker room—was subject to rumors at the time, supposedly including something. That was never the case. After all, it’s all just noise.

It wasn’t only ideal for our joint play. It simply didn’t work out. We carried on. I’m positive that they have no malice against me. In my opinion, there shouldn’t be. simply did not succeed. However, my feelings for Dallas, my teammates, and everyone else there are only love.

In January 2019, when Porzingis was healing from an ACL injury, the Mavericks acquired him from the New York Knicks. While he averaged 20 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks over the course of 134 regular-season games with Dallas, Porzingis never made it into the All-Star game like he did with the Knicks.

Despite being considered a star-studded pair when Porzingis joined Dallas on the court, Doncic was in his second year of the league and the two never won a postseason series together for the Mavericks.

Doncic remarked, “I don’t know why it didn’t work out.” “Both of us were still quite young. Despite our best efforts, it was not successful. thus went on.

Having made the next move, Doncic and the Mavericks will now face the Celtics in the Finals and Porzingis, who will be back for Game 1. When the two are on the court, the world will see if Porzingis’ claim that there is no friction between Doncic and himself is genuine. He also acknowledged that Boston will have its hands full attempting to contain the explosive guard.

It’s excellent. Regarding his friendship with Doncic, Porzingis remarked, “It’s always been good.” He is among the greatest players in the league and the entire globe, as I have stated. We’ll have a difficult task ahead of us attempting to stop him. He had a significant impact even after entering the league and continuing his career. I got to know him and have the chance to play with him for a few years. Knowing him as a person, a player, and a mindset makes him stand out among other players. We face a significant obstacle in our quest to compete with someone of that caliber.
